Jo’s Coffee

time Everyday: 7am - 9pm

Jo's coffee is an Austin TX coffee shop serving hot and cold caffeinated drinks. The South Congress location is right outside of Hotel San José, making it a prime spot to grab a cup when on the move. They also serve breakfast tacos until they run out — if you come early, come hungry.

You wake up to a pounding head, the sour taste of beer in your mouth, and the smell of too much partying on Austin’s 6th Street. You can’t look at your phone as you slide it into your pocket. Answering messages is not your biggest concern now. Coffee. Food. In that order.

As a CYTIES gent, you had the foresight to stay on South Congress, Austin’s most happening spot, so it doesn’t take you long to follow your nose to a line of folks at a walk-up window. Thank God, you remembered your shades. It’s bright out here in these South Texas streets.

Jo’s Coffee is THE coffee place of Austin, emphasis on “THE.” It’s been around since 1999 serving up hot and cold brew and breakfast tacos from its walk-up window on South Congress.

You get up to the window and order a coffee: latte, mocha, americano, cappuccino, espresso. Something with two shots. Perhaps a cold brew – it’s already hot in Austin. Throw in a few breakfast tacos, too.

Do you want a turbo? What’s a turbo, you ask. It’s a sweet, cold coffee drink with chocolate, hazelnut, coffee, and cream served over crushed ice. You look around wondering if this is coffee heaven?

No, the attendant tells you – this is Jo’s Coffee.

Jo’s Coffee is THE coffee place of Austin, emphasis on “THE.” It’s been around since 1999 serving up hot and cold brew and breakfast tacos from its walk-up window on South Congress. Today, they also have a downtown spot on South Second Street and a full breakfast, lunch, and weekend brunch menu. Their coffee is made from our guys at Stumptown Coffee Roasters, so you know it’s good.

An outdoor patio at the South Congress Jo’s fills quickly with patrons and dogs, shooting the shit as they wait for their hot or cold coffee brews to work its magic on last night’s hangover. Sometimes there’s a band, and sometimes it’s just a laid-back environment.

Anyone who’s had Jo’s knows it’s an Austin classic that’ll be there for you through hangovers, awkward first dates, quick business meetings, and afternoon pick-me-ups. Maybe that’s why the famous red spray-painted words, “I love you so much” is splayed on the side of their green building. Coffee and tacos – now that’s something to love.

FIELD TIPS
