Perhaps that’s why we were attracted to Ace Hotel New Orleans. As we stood on the lush patio of their heated rooftop pool with a frozen drink in hand, we heard the tunes of jazz bands float upward on the warm, humid air and enjoyed the panoramic views of the 300-year-old city, and we couldn’t help but think: we are here. New Orleans called, and we came to the right place to stay.

Set in a 1928 Art Deco building in the vibrant Warehouse District, Ace Hotel New Orleans sits at the crossroads of music, food, and art, offering an all-around experience for the male traveler.

A stay here begins with style, clearly displayed in the lobby which harbors historic terrazzo floors, French-inspired furniture, and a deep, rich wooden bar serving Southern libation favorites like the Sazerac. From there, we moved to The Gallery where the modern man can immerse himself in thought-provoking artistic works, followed by a stop in the Three Keys, an intimate music venue, where soulful tunes are played near-nightly.

It’s all about the detail — and that’s true for the rooms at this property. The spacious rooms combine simplistic furnishings with high-quality material and brands from the retro Smeg refrigerators to the custom matelassé quilts, and large glass showers or deep soaking tubs. The beds and pillows are legendary in comfort, while the provided Rudy’s Hair and Body Products showcases the hotel’s appreciation of male travelers.

With a turntable, a curated vinyl selection, and Martin guitars in some rooms, the musically-talented among us can succumb to the tuneful soul of NOLA that has bred musical geniuses like Louis Armstrong.
